I spent my 11th grade year at a Canadian boarding school in Toronto. This incredible experience proved to be a launchpad for my education and career: I lived and worked in Argentina, Spain, Hong Kong and Qatar, ending up completing my MBA (Master of Business Administration) in Amsterdam. I then went on to work in digital transformation for an international business.

I joined our family business in XNUMX because I wanted to further a cause that means a lot to me: Empowering young people to try out new things and create their own path. I am excited to be able to inspire young people in pushing their own boundaries and achieving more than they thought would be possible – just like I was able to do.

In 2024, I joined our family business to do something that’s truly important to me: encouraging young people to try new things and find their own path. I look forward to inspiring young people to push themselves and challenge their limits—just as I’ve experienced on my own journey.

I completed my teaching degree in Geography, Geology and Sports at Heidelberg University in 1979. I travelled the world for a year, which, among other things, led me to teach English to Thai students in Bangkok for a few months, helping them prepare for their time at college in the US.

In 2005, I took over as Managing Director of School and Educational Consultants ssb, changing its name to ssb Nottebohm. I remained at the helm of ssb Nottebohm until XNUMX.

My personalised, empathetic and solution-oriented consulting services rely heavily on my long-standing expertise, my professional training and personal experience as a mother to two children who both went to North American boarding schools. I strive to do more than to simply support young people in choosing the right school or place to study in. Accompanying young people on their personal journey – fostering their strengths and tapping their potential – that’s what drives me.

In 1988, I got to have my own once-in-a-lifetime experience at a school in the US, which marked the beginning of my passion for international programmes. I studied social sciences and hold a PhD. I’ve got five children, with one of my daughters having also attended a boarding school in the US. My cousin Hille Nottebohm and I picked up the mantle of ssb Nottebohm and will continue its mission as Nottebohm Educational Consultants. As the philosopher Kurt Hahn once said: “There is more in us than we know if we could be made to see it”. This motto guides me in my work as a consultant.

I studied English and Intercultural German studies prior to joining Nottebohm Educational Consultants in October 2024. My studies also led me to complete my MA in Canada, near Toronto, which provided me with a crucial shift in perspective regarding life in another country and culture. I was able to make friends from all over the world and am now very much looking forward to supporting young people on a similar journey. I strive to empower young people in taking the first few steps into the unknown – a service hallmarked by open-mindedness, curiosity and trust.

What’s particularly formative for me about these experiences is the change of perspective that living in other countries enables, as well as the close friendships that have resulted from them all over the world. I’m therefore delighted to now be able to accompany young people on their journey into the world – with openness, curiosity, and the confidence that every step into the unknown offers a valuable experience.

I’ve been working for Nottebohm Educational Consultants since 2022. I studied English and Spanish in Hildesheim and Alicante. As I had dreamt of travelling the West of the US and Canada since I’d been a teenager, I went on to travel following my studies in International Communication and Translation. Following my return, I went on to complete my MA in Media Translation, which included another Erasmus semester in Galicia. I strive to support young people during their time abroad and help them benefit from my own intercultural experience, knowing that this will pave the way for their future and help them broaden their horizons.
